ArtWalk from 5-8pm in Poulsbo.
April at Front Street Gallery presents Ancestral Memories featuring the paintings of Joseph Fourbears and basketry by Annette Fourbears. The husband and wife artists interpret the beauty and mystery of the Neolithic era based on ancient cave paintings and weaving design. Show opens Saturday April 11, 2015 as part of Poulsbo Second Saturday ArtWalk 5-8 pm and runs through May 4, 2015.
The artwork displayed for this show draws on images seen in the caves of southwest France. The oldest of paintings in the caves date from 30,000 BCE and yet shows a reverence for the natural world and a sophistication in design that has not been surpassed to this day. Who were these people? What were their lives like and why did they did produce such an abundance of art?
Come on a journey with us back to the cave and try to imagine a very different yet rich world of the ancient ancestors.
