John Adams began painting as a child growing up on the gulf coast.
He studied art formally at an early age and enjoyed painting seascapes and mountains which continue to provide inspiration for his work. He graduated from Stetson University in Florida with a BA in studio art.
After that he worked his way west, and settled in the Seattle area in 1985. Since then he has become an elected signature member of both the National and Northwest Watercolor Societies and completed an AAS in Graphic Design from Seattle Central College. John has worked in graphic design along with painting and teaching weekly watercolor classes since 2000. As a frequent contributor to juried exhibitions, his colorful paintings have been widely exhibited, collected and won awards for the past 30 years in the Seattle area. He works from his studio on the Olympic Peninsula.

I design paintings with simple shapes and reserve the brilliant whites of the watercolor paper, guiding the watercolor to mix in both subtle and bold ways that create fresh expressions of form and color. There is a magic in this process that keeps me forever challenged, engaged and inspired.
